Easy to prepare and healthy waffle recipes

All of us know that a hearty breakfast is essential to power us through our day. In this article, we are going to talk about some quick and healthy waffle recipes, that will turn waffles into a nutritional morning meal.

Whole grain pumpkin spice waffles

Ingredients:

  • Two and a quarter cups of oat flour
  • One tablespoon of baking powder
  • Three-quarters teaspoon of salt
  • One teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Half a teaspoon of ginger
  • Quarter teaspoon of nutmeg
  • Quarter teaspoon allspice
  • Three large eggs
  • One cup of milk
  • Half a cup of melted coconut oil
  • Three tablespoons of maple syrup
  • One tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • Half a cup of pumpkin puree

How to prepare it:

Take a large bowl and then combine the baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt, oat flour and allspice in it. Whisk them well. Then, take another bowl and then whisk the eggs in it. Add the milk, the pumpkin puree, the coconut oil, the maple syrup, and the vanilla extract. Whisk all the ingredients until you get a homogenous mixture. Then, pour the mixture into the first bowl, and stir it with a wooden spoon, until all of the ingredients combine.

After that, preheat the waffle iron, and when it is heated, pour the batter onto the heated iron and cook it until it becomes crisp and it gets a dark golden color. Transfer the waffles to a rack in order to cool down. Please be careful not to stack the waffles, because they will lose their crispness. In the end, add your toppings of choice, before you serve the waffles.

Gluten-free applesauce waffles

Ingredients:

  • One large egg
  • A quarter cup of ground flax seed
  • One and a half cups of unsweetened applesauce
  • One and a quarter cups of milk
  • Half a cup of raw honey, or maple syrup
  • One teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • One teaspoon of baking soda
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • Two cups of oat flour
  • Two cups of hazelnuts or ground almonds
  • Cooking spray

How to prepare it:

Take a large bowl and then lightly beat the eggs. Then add the flaxseed, milk, vanilla extract, the baking soda, salt, maple syrup and the applesauce. Whisk the ingredients until they are combined. Add oat flour and the ground nuts and then mix them well. After that, preheat the waffle maker and spray both griddles with the cooking spray and pour in the batter. You will need to cook it until it becomes crispy around the edges.

Oatmeal waffles

Ingredients:

  • One and a half cups of all-purpose flour
  • One cup of quick oats
  • Three tablespoons of baking powder
  • Half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Quarter teaspoon of salt
  • Two lightly beaten eggs
  • One and a half cups of milk
  • Six tablespoons of melted butter
  • Two tablespoons of brown sugar
  • Yogurt and fresh fruit for garnish

How to prepare it:

Take a large bowl and then combine the oats, baking powder, the salt, the cinnamon and the flour together. Set the mixture aside. Then, take a smaller bowl and whisk together the milk, the eggs, the brown sugar and the butter. Add the flour mixture and stir it well, until the mixture becomes homogenous.

As always, preheat the waffle maker and coat it with nonstick spray. Then, pour the batter into the center and cook each waffle until it becomes crispy and it gets a golden color. Top it with yogurt and fresh fruit.

Fluffy blueberry waffles

Ingredients:

  • Two cups of whole wheat flour
  • One tablespoon of baking powder
  • Quarter teaspoon of salt
  • One-third of a cup of applesauce
  • A quarter cup of agave nectar
  • One and a half cup of soy milk
  • One tablespoon of olive oil
  • Half a cup of blueberries

How to prepare it:

Mix the baking powder, salt and the flour in a large bowl. Take another mixing bowl and in it, mix the applesauce, soy milk, the olive oil, and the agave nectar. Mix the ingredients from the two bowls together and don’t stop mixing until the mixture becomes homogenous. Set it aside for ten minutes.

Fold in the blueberries and pour the batter into the preheated waffle maker, until the waffle is crisp around the edges.

Bacon maple waffles

Ingredients:

  • Two cups of all-purpose flour
  • One tablespoon of baking powder
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • One and a quarter cups of two percent milk
  • Three tablespoons of maple syrup
  • Two tablespoons of melted butter
  • Four slices of bacon, previously cooked and crumbled
  • Three large, lightly beaten eggs
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/3 cup of maple syrup

How to prepare it:

Mix together the baking powder, salt and the flour in a large bowl. Take a different bowl, and in it, add the maple syrup, eggs, butter, bacon and the milk. Whisk the ingredients. After that combine the ingredients from the two bowls and stir them once again.

Preheat the waffle maker and coat both sides of it with the cooking spray. Pour about 1/3 cup of batter onto the waffle iron, and cook it four to five minutes. Top the waffles with 1/3 cup of syrup and then serve.
